Updating a MIB unit blind is the quickest way to brick it. We do it every day: you can send us the unit and we take care of it, or — if you are an equipped workshop — we guide you remotely. The technical archive supports this work, and is reserved for professional subscribers.
From the simplest to the most self-sufficient. The first is the one we recommend to anyone who does not do this for a living.
You remove the unit and ship it. We update it on the bench, test it and send it back ready to refit, with its own coding. It is the only way in which the risk is ours and not yours.
If your workshop has our equipment, the work is done on your own vehicle with us connected to support you. It is agreed in advance: it is not a walk-in service.
For those who work on MIB units every day and know what they are doing: data sheets, supported starting versions, release notes and procedures. Access is personal and reserved for subscribers.
It is a service for workshops, auto electricians and independent operators — and for the private owner with a unit to sort out who would rather send it to us. Every job concerns the unit fitted to the vehicle of the person requesting it, and access to the reserved area is personal. If you have a doubt about your case, write to us before subscribing: we will tell you the right route, even when it is not ours.
These are the codes that appear in the unit's service menu: if you know which one you have, you already know whether it is covered.
We start from the problem, not from the version. Many faults that look like software are hardware, and updating does not fix them: send us the symptom, the model and the unit part number, and we will tell you whether the update has anything to do with it.
Yes. The platforms we handle and what we cover for each are public: you will find them in Infotainment platforms and in the archive on the home page. The subscription concerns access to the reserved area, not browsing.
Because a wrong update bricks the unit, and because what we do is a workshop service, not a file warehouse. The reserved area is meant for those who work on MIB units every day. If that is not your case it is no problem: the right route is to send us the unit, and it costs less than a mistake.
The risk is always there when updating an infotainment unit. That is why every version has its own notes and its own supported starting versions, and why we recommend that anyone who does not do this for a living sends it to us. If it bricks, it gets recovered in the workshop.
They are two different things and they live in two different places: the navigation maps have their own page, Map Download.
