Map Download

The right package for your unit, with the instructions to install it: without trawling half the internet for a file that turns out to be the wrong one. Searching and reading is free; downloading requires a subscription.

Full Europe or single regions
Instructions per platform, not generic ones
Intact files, not broken archives
For which systems

The unit is what counts, not the car model

Two different cars can have the same unit fitted, and therefore the same map. The platform decides, and that is how the archive is organised.

Volkswagen

Discover Media, Discover Pro, Composition Media

From the MIB1 and MIB2 units up to MIB2.5 and MIB3, with the correct packages for each generation: the map of one does not fit the other.

Audi

MMI Navigation and MMI Navigation plus

The group's MMI units share the MIB architecture, but not the map packages: each variant has its own.

Škoda

Columbus and Amundsen

They are the same platforms as the Volkswagen units under a different trade name: in the archive you filter by make and you end up in the same place.

SEAT · Cupra

Navi System and Navi System Plus

Same logic: you start from the platform code, not from the name the manufacturer gives the system in the price list.

Not sure which unit you have? The part number is printed on the side label (for example 5G0 035 021): it is the safest way to get to the right package. Look it up in the archive on the home page or send it to us.

How it is done

From the search to the updated navigation

  1. Find your platform Filter the archive by make and system, or start from the unit part number. This part is free and does not ask for registration.
  2. Check the package data sheet Coverage, file size, medium required and compatible unit versions: you know beforehand whether it is the right one.
  3. Activate the subscription and download It is only needed to download. The map packages are big: a stable connection and a bit of patience help.
  4. Prepare the medium and install Each package has its own instructions, because the medium and the procedure change from platform to platform. Follow those, not the generic guides.

Do not disconnect the battery during the update

An installation interrupted halfway is the commonest way of turning an update into a problem. Leave the car powered for the whole procedure: on a Europe package it can take more than an hour.

Frequently asked questions

Before downloading

What counts is the unit platform, not the car model: two different cars can have the same unit fitted and therefore the same map. In the archive you filter by make and system; if you have the unit part number that is the safest way to get there.

It depends on the platform: some units read the SD card, others the USB stick, others again want a medium formatted in a precise way. That is why every package has its own instructions and not one guide for all.

Very large: a full Europe package runs to tens of gigabytes. That is why the download speed changes from one plan to another, and why it is better to download from a stable connection rather than from a phone.

Almost always it is the medium or an installation interrupted halfway, and it is solved by running the procedure again from the start. If instead the unit has locked up, it gets recovered in the workshop: it is the same work as the infotainment repair.

They are two different things and they live in two different places: the software updates have their own page, Firmware Download.
